This red, white, and blue gym bag belonged to Bob Garner, the trainer for the Dallas Chaparrals of the ABA. On the bottom Garner has written his name and title “Bob Garner – Trainer” along with his address, notated simply as “Dallas Chaparrals, Dallas, TX”, all in black sharpie on the bottom of the bag. He misspelled the team name. The Chaparrals were a charter member of the fledgling American Basketball Association in the late 1960s, but they would play just six seasons in Dallas before being moved to San Antonio in 1973 and ultimately joining the rival NBA.
