Charles Barkley was traded to the Houston Rockets in the 1996–97 season where he joined a veteran team that included two of the NBA's 50 Greatest Players, Hakeem Olajuwon and Clyde Drexler. He became the team's second leading scorer, averaging 19.2 points on .484 shooting. Barkley focused primarily on rebounding, averaging 13.5 per game, the second best in his career. The Rockets ended the regular season with a 57–25 record and advanced to the Western Conference Finals. Inside the rear collar is the "Champion" manufacturers size 52 tag with wash instructions. Written on the tag in black marker is player number "4." Next to this is the "CHAMPION" exclusive tag, which reads "Designed & Tailored Exclusively for Houston Rockets BODY LENGTH +4 SLEEVE LENGTH 0". On the left breast is the “Rockets” team embroidered logo patch. On the right sleeve is the "NBA 50th Anniversary" patch. Across the back is "ROCKETS" with the team logo. The jacket shows wear and appears to have no alterations of any kind. It was originally obtained as part of a large private collection of Houston Rockets jerseys and warm-ups that came from a former equipment managers family.
