When a young Cassius Clay took the Olympic Gold in Rome 1960, few realized the impact he would make in the boxing world. He began his illustrious professional career as a heavy underdog against Heavyweight Champ, Sonny Liston. Clay knocked out the champ in the 7th round to begin a long reign. Only the government could take Ali's title when he protested the draft in 1967. Ali's return to boxing brought us such epic bouts as the "Thrilla in Manilla" and the "Rumble in the Jungle". This white terry cloth hooded robe with sash was worn by Ali during training and for some personal appearances. "Muhammad Ali World Champion" is embroidered in black script lettering on the back of the robe. The robe was originally obtained from Drew Bundindi Brown circa 1983.
