In the early 1930s, the diminutive (4' 11") Bonnie Parker and partner in crime Clyde Barrow cut a swath across the southwestern United States in a crime spree that left 12 people dead. Their exploits elevated them into the pantheon of the folklorish outlaws of the time, including John Dillinger and "Machine Gun" Kelly. This is an original 8" x 8" cardstock Wanted Poster issued to U.S. post offices by J. Edgar Hoover's FBI on May 21, 1934, two days before the infamous couple was killed by Texas Rangers and sheriff's deputies in a Louisiana ambush. The poster has been double matted and framed to 14-1/2" x 15-1/2" with plaque that reads "Bonnie & Clyde, Public Enemy #1." The poster incorporates a pair of snap shots showing the pair with guns and lists Bonnie & Clyde's vitals, aliases, relatives, criminal record, car make and model, license plate ("motor car") number, etc., and states in part, "Clyde Champion Barrow and Bonnie Parker constantly travel together and extreme caution must be exercised by arresting officers as they are wanted in connection with assault and murder of officers." On the back is a list of "Department of Justice, Division of Investigation" (renamed the Federal Bureau of Investigation in 1935) offices across the country, with phone numbers listed.
