Voted MVP of the ABA three times in his five years, HOFer Julius "Dr. J" Erving left the Nets for Philadelphia and took the NBA by storm. Dr. J is partly responsible for modern basketball in its present form, a game played "above the rim." Fans and players alike had never before seen the athleticism, grace and leaping ability possessed by Erving. He was an 11-time NBA All-Star, MVP of the league in '81, and also led the Sixers to a championship in '83. Moreover, Erving is one of the games most loved ambassadors, is a Top 50 player of all-time and had his number retired by both the Nets and the Sixers. On the left front tail is the "Wilson" manufacturer's label with wash instructions and jersey size "40." Above this is the "Pearson" sporting goods store label. Below it is a white flag tag marked "2X Long." On the front of the jersey is the team name "Sixers" and centered below it is the number "6." The player number "6" is also on the back of the jersey. All of these letters and numbers are done in blue on red tackle twill. The player name "Erving" is on the back done in blue tackle twill. On the left shoulder strap is a black armband to commemorate the passing of long-time Sixers public address announcer Dave Zinkoff who passed away in 1986. The jersey shows good game use and appears to have no alterations of any kind.
