Rooting for the Mets as a child, star southpaw Al Leiter was traded to New York (from Florida) in 1998 and finished that season with a career-high 17 wins and 174 strikeouts. This is Leiter's game-used glove from the 2001 season. It is a Rawlings left-handed model PRO504-9JB, black deer tanned cowhide, with "Al Leiter" stitched in orange across the outer thumb. "The Gold Glove Company" on cloth plate is stitched to the outer pinky. The "Rawlings" logo and nameplate are sewn onto the back of the glove. The glove shows light use, with wear evident on the palm and web. Laceholes, eyelets and leather straps are all intact.
