Replacing Roberto Clemente in right field for the Pirates in 1973, Dave Parker became the first Pirate since Clemente to earn the Most Valuable Player award. On the inside neck of this yellow alternate jersey is the "Rawlings" manufacturer's tag with jersey size "48." On the left front tail is a yellow patch reading "39 79 2" denoting player number, year and set number, respectively. The number "39" appears on the front and rear of the jersey and across the front is the team name "Pirates." All letters and numbers are done in black on white tackle twill. On the back is a yellow nameplate with the name "Parker" in black tackle twill. Inside the waistband is the "W.A. Goodman & Sons" manufacturer's tag with pants size "40." The number "39" has been written in marker on the waistband. The jersey and pants show game-use and appear to have no alterations of any kind.
