The world's most famous arena, Madison Square Garden, is home to the New York Knicks and the New York Rangers. The new Madison Square Garden, the fourth version of this building, was built in the late 1960s and was the first to be circular, not square. This is the original-six era puck from the first hockey game played in this new stadium, in which the NY Rangers beat Philadelphia. The puck is mounted on a 7" x 9" wooden plaque, with a plate reading: "1ST HOCKEY GAME PLAYED/ IN THE NEW/ MADISON SQUARE GARDEN/NEW YORK CITY/ NEW YORK RANGERS 3/PHILIDELPHIA 1". The puck is in good condition, showing a few scratches and a tiny piece of rubber missing along the edge, as expected from game use. Accompanied by documentation tracing the ownership to a linesman who worked in the game.
