An Oklahoma native, Dennis Byrd played college football for the University of Tulsa. In 1989, Dennis was the second round draft pick for the New York Jets and was voted Rookie of the Year. On November 29, 1992, Byrd collided with a teammate shattering his neck and paralyzing his body. After seven hours of surgery, he was told he might never walk again. Two months later, however, he was taking steps. Now he serves as president of the Dennis Byrd Foundation. At the base of the "V" neck is the "NFL" patch. On the left front tail is the "Champion" exclusive label with the year "1992" and next to this is the "Champion" label with the size "44." On the back of the jersey is a green mesh nameplate with the name "Byrd." The player number "90" appears on the front, back and on each shoulder of the jersey. The letters and numbers are white on black and have been ironed-on. The jersey shows game-use and appears to have no alterations of any kind. Along with this shirt is a white mesh practice jersey.
