In 1931, at age 15, Eddie Arcaro made his debut as a professional jockey and would win his first race a year later. By 1938, Arcro had established himself as one of the premier jockeys in the country, winning his first Kentucky Derby (he would go on to win four more), and in 1941 he won racing's Triple Crown, a feat he would repeat one more time in 1948. When all was said and done and his career was over, Arcaro walked away winning 4,779 races and had career earnings totaling $30,039,543. This sterling silver trophy bowl was presented to Arcaro in 1961 after he won "The Acorn" at the Aqueduct. The front of the bowl has been engraved "New York Racing Association, The Acorn, Aqueduct, 1961, Won by Brookmeade Stable's Bowl of Flowers, Jockey: Eddie Arcaro." The overall condition is excellent, showing very little wear other than the usual tarnish associated with age.
