A four time All-Star, Ben Chapman was part of the squad that took the field at the first All-Star game in 1933. He made his baseball debut in 1930 when the New York Yankees needed to fill a hole at third base. He spent the next 14 seasons bouncing around the Majors, playing for 6 other teams, unable to hold onto his job due to a raging temper that flared often and made for some of the most notorious fights in baseball history. One such incident occurred in 1933 against the Washington Senators in which he took on nearly the entire team, in their dugout! Unfortunately all of this bad press overshadowed the career of a great ball player who retired with an impressive .302 lifetime batting average. Chapman has signed this OAL Bobby Brown baseball on the sweetspot in black ink "Ben Chapman" and has added ".302 lifetime B.A." The signature rates a 9 and the ball is near-mint. The autograph comes with a letter of authenticity from PSA/DNA.
