Following an outstanding career that included a .313 batting average and landed him in the Hall of Fame, New York Yankees great Bill Dickey stayed on as coach for the Bronx Bombers. The Yankees was the only team that the 11-time All-Star played for during his 17-year career. While Dickey wore number 8 during his playing career, fellow Yankee catching legend Yogi Berra inherited #8 following Dickey's retirement in 1946. Dickey was given #33, which is found stitched in white felt on the left sleeve of this heavy wool Yankees coach's jacket worn by Dickey in the early 1950's. "Yankees" appears in script across the chest of this two-pocketed, zippered jacket, which shows exceptional use. The name "Dickey" is sewn on a piece of material on the right front waistband. There is some fraying to the sleeves and waist band and a two-inch hole below the left pocket. This is a great piece of memorabilia linking decades of Yankee greatness.
