On April 15, 1947 Jackie Robinson played his first game of Major League baseball breaking the color barrier that had stood for so long. With this one action Robinson changed our Nation and paved the way for hundreds of other athletes who came after him. These pants are from Jackie's finest season, 1949, in which he hit a career high .342 winning the National League MVP award and playing in his first all-star game. Inside of the waistband is the "MacGregor Goldsmith" manufacturers label with the size, "36." Below this is a white felt patch with the name "J Robinson" in blue chain stitch. Behind the buttons is a flag tag reading "Set 1 1949." The pants show game use and appear to have no alterations of any kind. A fabulous relic directly attributed to the most historically significant player in the history of our National Pastime. "A life is not important" Jackie Robinson once said "except in the impact it has on other lives."
