Mike Piazza quickly established himself in Los Angeles as one of the greatest offensive catchers baseball has ever seen. He entered his second season with the Mets with legitimate hope of making the playoffs and he finally got a chance to enjoy the city as his home. He batted .303 with 40 homers and 124 RBI. The season included a 24 game hitting streak and his seventh straight All-Star appearance. On the left front tail of the jersey is the "Russell Athletic" label which includes the size, "50." Across the front of the jersey is the name "New York" and on the back is the name "Piazza." The player number "31" appears on both the left breast and on the back of the jersey. The letters and numbers are made of blue ribbed tackle twill on an white/orange tackle twill backing. On the left sleeve is the Mets "Skyline" patch. There is some slight fraying on the letters and numbers. It shows even wear throughout. The jersey shows game-use and appears to have no alterations of any kind.
