Prior to landing in Philadelphia in 1963, the 76ers played as the Syracuse Nationals. The team was purchased by Philadelphia natives Irv Kosloff and Ike Richman. The duo held a contest to re-name the team and 76ers was selected from a list of more than 500 entries. The Nationals' crowning achievement came in 1955 when they defeated the Fort Wayne Pistons in seven games to capture the NBA Championship. This satin Syracuse Nationals warmup jacket was worn during the 1950s. The jacket has "Gabor" written in marker in the collar and is emblazoned across the back with "Syracuse." The collar, waistband and sleeves are trimmed in red and blue. The jacket shows extensive wear.
