Two basketball legends, Pete Maravich and Richie Guerin wore this jersey; one ending his Hall of Fame career and one just beginning his. In the 69-70 season Richie Guerin was issued this #19 jersey, which turned out to be his last as he retired after losing in the NBA Playoffs. That offseason the Hawks drafted Pete Maravich in the first round with the third overall pick. For the 70-71 preseason, Maravich was given Guerin’s carried over jersey from the previous season. The 1970 preseason was the final time the Hawks would wear this style, as they updated their logo and colors at the start of the 70-71 regular season. It should be noted that Maravich and Guerin are the only two players on the Hawks roster to ever wear #19 in this style. Their similar stature made this a seamless transition. It’s a hobby accepted fact that teams from this era would not order new jerseys for preseason use, knowing beforehand that they were changing styles at the start of the regular season. There is an oversized poster that accompanies this lot of Maravich pictured wearing what we were told is this very jersey. On the back inside tail is the Rawlings manufacturers tag size “42”. Adjacent is an additional wash instructions tag. Across the front of the jersey is "HAWKS." On the front and back is the player number "19." All lettering and numbering is done in light blue on red tackle twill. This jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows excellent use. Accompanied by a LOA from Photo-Match.com grading the jersey a perfect 10. This is the first known jersey of the Hall of Famer Richie Guerin to be auctioned and quite possibly the most important Maravich to hit the market, incredibly worn by two Hall of Famers.
