“Broadway Joe” Namath led the New York Jets to a Super Bowl III win and was named the game’s MVP. The two-time AFL MVP was named to the AFL All-Time Team, was the first quarterback ever to throw for 4,000 yards in a season and is the Jets franchise leader in wins, passing touchdowns and passing yards. Namath’s No. 12 is retired by the franchise and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1985. On the crotch piece is a “MacGregor” size “46” manufacturer’s tag and adjacent is a tag with washing instructions. On the front and on the back is the player number “12” and across the back reads the player name “NAMATH”. These are done in white tackle twill. The player number “12” also appears on each sleeve in green tackle twill. The nameplate was replaced and all numbers have been changed. Namath signed the back player “1” in black pen and in our opinion, rates a 7 overall. This jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows appropriate use. This jersey was originally purchased in an NFL Super Bowl auction 20 years ago. Accompanied by an LOA from JSA.
