The “original” Madison Square Garden opened on December 15, 1925 and was demolished in 1968. It was dubbed the “House That Tex Built” after boxing promoter Tex Rickard assembled backers he called his "600 millionaires" to fund the project. The New York Rangers (NHL), New York Americans (NHL) and New York Knicks (NBA) all played their home games at the Garden. Significant events that took place at the Garden include three New York Rangers championships (1927-28, 1932-33 & 1939-40), the New York Knicks playing their franchise's first ever home game (Nov. 11, 1946), the Joe Louis vs. Rocky Marciano fight (Dec. 26, 1951) and Jim Ryun breaking the 4 minute mile record (Feb. 1968). Approximately 39” x 19” x 33” original Madison Square Garden wooden double seats. The backrests have the original silver seating numbers of “9” and “10”. The seat bottoms are made of leather set inside a wooden frame. The seats are in NM fantastic all original condition. These seats were used on the Garden floor for VIP’s at special events. Accompanied by a LOA from H&D Electric Company, one of the companies who did the demolition in 1968. This item will require additional shipping charges due to its size and weight.
