This trophy was presented to wide receiver Plaxico Burress after he and his New York Giants teammates defeated the heavily-favored New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLII. It is the player’s version of the iconic Vince Lombardi Trophy presented to Championship teams in the NFL. This chrome-plated steel trophy stands 16” tall and weighs over 9 lbs. The three-sided base measures approximately 5” on each side, the football atop the base measures approximately 8” x 4-½” x 4-½”. The face of the trophy is engraved to read “VINCE LOMBARDI TROPHY - SUPER BOWL XLII CHAMPIONS - THE NEW YORK GIANTS” along with an NFL shield medallion in the center. The right panel is engraved to read “PLAXICO BURRESS #80”. Burress' # is incorrectly shown as #80. He wore #17 with the giants, #80 was his number with his previous team, the Pittsburgh Steelers. The underside of the trophy features felt backing which is a fully present. This iconic trophy is in MINT condition. Accompanied by a LOA from Chris Hawkins, a longtime friend of Plaxico Burress.
