The 9th overall pick in the 1983 NBA Draft, Dale Ellis eventually made his mark in the league by earning NBA’s most improved player award for his efforts in 1987. He averaged 27.5 points per game during the 1989-90 season. His total of 2,253 that season broke Spencer Haywoods franchise record in which Ellis held until phenom Kevin Durant broke it in 2009-10.
