In the second season of the USFL, the Philadelphia Stars set out to claim the USFL Championship Trophy that had escaped them the year before. In July of 1984, the Stars, one of the league’s strongest teams, were selected to play a preseason exhibition game at London’s Wembley Stadium to help spread the popularity of American football. When the regular season began Philly got right back to work, once again compiling the league's best regular season record with 16 wins in 18 games. The Stars marched into the postseason and easily handled the New Jersey Generals and the Birmingham Stallions, allowing only 17 points in two games while putting up 48 of their own. Philly would once again find themselves in the USFL title game, this time against the Arizona Wranglers. The Stars’ season-long dominance continued with a 23-3 rout of the Wranglers, earning Philadelphia the first of two USFL Championships. This size 10, 10k gold players ring weighs 39 grams and was presented to strong safety Antonio Gibson when he was part of the 1984 Philadelphia Stars USFL Championship team. The top panel reads “PHILADELPHIA USFL 1984 CHAMPIONS” surrounding a Stars logo in relief with a .20-carat round-cut diamond in the center atop a red synthetic stone. The left panel reads “GIBSON” in relief above a casted image of the Liberty Bell and Philadelphia Veterans Stadium, six stars, and “SS 23”, Gibson’s position and number. The right panel reads “MOST WINS” above a casted image of the USFL Championship Trophy, “19-2” and a small banner that reads “PHILA 23 - ARIZ 3”. The inside of the ring is stamped “10K©JOSTENS”. The ring is in NRMT condition.
