The Iron Horse played his last game in the big leagues on April 30, 1939. This is quite possibly one on the last team baseballs that Lu Gehrig ever signed. The identifiable signatures on this ball played for the Yankees in both 1938 and 1939 and are as follows. Lou Gehrig in the sweet spot, Chas (Red) Ruffing, Joe Gordon, Tom Henrich, Red Rolfe, Frank Crosetti, George Selkirk, Bill Dickey, Spud Chandler and a few others that are faded and unidentifiable. The sigs are all done in black ink and are somewhat faded. The ball is VG+ with toning and spotting throughout. Accompanied by a LOA from JSA.
