He played in eight NBA All-Star Games, and was named Most Valuable Player of the 1974 game. Lanier was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1992 and had his #16 jersey retired by both the Pistons and the Bucks. On the left front tail is the “Sand-Knit” manufacturer’s tag with jersey size “48”.Adjacent is a strip tag with “3” L.B.” which is actually two tags sewn side by side, “3” and “L.B.”. Across the front is “ALL STARS” done in painted on red letters with a blue border. Player number “16” appears on front in red and on back in blue painted on numbers. Below the player number on back is “EAST” and above is player name “LANIER” all done in painted on red block letters. The jersey shows game-use and appears to have no alterations of any kind.
