"Dr. J" was traded to the Nets in 1973 and led the Nets to their first ABA title in the 1973–74 season. Erving established himself as the most important player in the ABA. His spectacular play established the Nets as, finally, one of the better teams in the ABA, and brought fans and credibility to the league. The end of the 1975-76 ABA season finally brought the ABA-NBA merger. The Erving-led Nets defeated the Denver Nuggets in the swan-song finals of the ABA. In the postseason, Erving averaged 34.7 points and was named Most Valuable Player of the playoffs. In his five ABA seasons, Erving won two championships, three MVP trophies, and three scoring titles. On the right front tail is the "Rawlings" manufacturer's size 44 wash instructions tag. Across the front is "ABA EAST." "ABA" is done in blue on white on red triple tackle twill and "EAST" is done in blue tackle twill. On the front and back is the player number "32". Across the back is the player name “ERVING." This lettering and numbering is done in blue tackle twill. Also, on front are 2 stars done in red tackle twill. On the back inside waistband is the “Rawlings” manufacturers size 34 tag with wash instructions. On the right leg is “ABA” in blue on white on red triple tackle twill. On the left leg are twill white tackle twill stars. The uniform shows game-use and appears to have no alterations of any kind. This lot is accompanied by a LOA from Al Trautwig.
