The Ringling Brothers purchased the Barnum and Bailey Circus in 1907 and ran the circuses separately until 1919. By that time, John Ringling was the only remaining Ringling brother and was not able to run the two circuses independently. On March 29, 1919, the "Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus" debuted at Madison Square Garden in New York City. This original "RINGLING BROS AND BARNUM & BAILEY CIRCUS" paper poster measures approximately 54" x 41" and is backed with cardboad. The cardboard is not affixed to the poster, it is easily removed by disassembling the wooden frame holding the paper to the cardboard. The poster has a fair amount of small tears around the edges, some tape marks and it has been folded. The poster has an overall condition of VG.
