In 1964, Carl Eller, a consensus All-America with the University of Minnesota, was a first-round draft pick of both the National Football League’s Minnesota Vikings and the Buffalo Bills of the then-rival American Football League. A 6-6, 247-pound defensive stalwart, HOFer Eller opted to stay in a familiar environment and signed with the Vikings. For the next 15 years through 1978, he was a fixture in one of pro footballs most effective defensive alignments. He played in 225 regular season games. White mesh jersey with purple and yellow stripe trim between shoulders and sleeves. On the left front tail of the jersey is the "Medalist Sand-Knit Minnesota Vikings" manufacturers tag. The tag below has fallen off. On the front, back and on each sleeve of the jersey is the player number "81" screen printed in purple. Across the back of the jersey is "ELLER" in purple tackle twill on a white name plate. The jersey shows excellent game use with team repair marks and appears to have no other alterations of any kind.
