Jose Canseco became the first member of the 40-40 club when he was a mere 23 years old, winning the MVP award that year in a landslide. At his peak, few people could match his formidable presence and tremendous swing at the plate. On the inside front left tail is the Rawlings manufacturer’s tag size “46” with washing instructions. The player number “33” is handwritten on this tag. Attached is a tag reading “2 INCH EXTRA LENGTH”. On the left sleeve is the A’s team “Elephant” logo patch and on the right sleeve is a “Rawlings” logo embroidered. Across the chest reads “Athletics”. Below and on the back is the player number “33”. These are done in green on yellow tackle twill. Across the back on a white nameplate is the player name “CANSECO” done in green tackle twill. Canseco signed the front of the jersey in blue ink with the added inscription “88 MVP” and “40/40 Club Founder 9/23/88”, in our opinion the signature rates a 7. This jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows excellent use. Accompanied by a LOA from JSA and a PSA/DNA LOA.
