The 1980 NBA Rookie of Year, Larry Bird was a nine-time All-NBA 1st team (1980 through 1988) and a three time regular season MVP (1984 to 1986). He led his Boston Celtics to three NBA titles (1981, 1984 and 1986) and was the Finals MVP twice (1984 and 1986). One of the most versatile players in basketball history, Bird was an unbelievably accurate outside shooter who could also rebound and score from inside. Leading the NBA in free throw percentage four times, he was also a good defender who came up with important steals. By the end of his spectacular career in 1992, Bird held or shared 27 Celtics records. Inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1998, his number 33 which he wore throughout his life was retired by the Celtics. Prior to his legendary 13 year Hall of Fame career with the Boston Celtics and four outstanding years at Indiana State (he was college Player of the Year in 1979, leading the team to an undefeated season and the NCAA Finals), Larry Bird was a star forward at Springs Valley High School in Indiana, leading them to the 1974 Sectional Championship. This is a large piece of the Springs Valley hardwood floor that Larry Bird played on during his high school years. Measuring a whopping 95" x 48" of 1-1/2" slats, this historic specimen is covered with stats done in black vinyl lettering. In the center it reads "1974 Sectional Champs, Springs Valley Black Hawks, French Lick, Indiana" with a black and white rendition of the team mascot. On the left are the names, numbers and positions of the 12 man squad, headed by "33, Larry Bird, F" with "Coach Gary Holland" rounding out the list. On the right is a list of the games and scores that season, Bird's senior year, showing a record of 17-3. Floor is in fantastic condition and would be the centerpiece of any basketball shrine. This item will be expensive to ship. Included is a 12" x 9" metal plaque inscribed "Authentic Gym Floor from Springs Valley High School French Lick, Indiana" signed by Bird above in gold marker rating an 8-9. Accompanied by an LOA from James Spence Authentication.
