After two years at Dayton (KY) High School, nine years at South Bend (IN) Central High School, and two years at Indiana State University, John Wooden became head coach at UCLA in 1948. The "Wizard of Westwood" is considered one of the finest teachers of the game ever, utilizing his trademark "Pyramid of Success." His Bruin teams were filled with All-Americas, including Hall of Famers including Gale Goodrich, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Bill Walton. Under Wooden's guidance, UCLA set all-time records with four perfect 30-0 seasons, 88 consecutive victories, 38 straight NCAA Tournament wins, 20 Pac-10 Championships and 10 NCAA National Championships. His NCAA titles included seven in a row from 1967-73. Wooden earned National Coach of the Year honors six times in his career. Wooden was the first individual elected to the Hall of Fame as a player (1960) and then re-honored as a coach. Silver Relief Medallion. In NM condition.
