John Fitzgerald Kennedy is held at the highest regard when discussing born American leaders. He started his career as commander of the Motor Torpedo Boats PT-109 and PT-59 during WWII. Upon returning to the States, he got into politics serving in the U.S. Senate from 1953-1960 when he defeated Vice President Nixon in the 1960 U.S. presidential election. He was the first to have been born in the 20th century and the only to receive a Pulitzer Prize. His assassination took place on November 22, 1963 in Dallas by gunmen Lee Harvey Oswald who was shot and killed two days later by Jack Ruby. Kennedy still ranks highly in public opinion ratings for U.S. presidents. His assassination was taken into such consideration that the Warren Commission was set by Kennedy's Vice President Lyndon B. Johnson up strictly to investigate. 1960 Presidential campaign poster with "KENNEDY FOR PRESIDENT" and "JOHNSON for VICE PRESIDENT" features the two running mates faces in black and white against a patriotic red, white and blue background. Framed to measure 19” x 27”, it appears to be made of cardboard. VG-EX original condition overall with creasing throughout and a tear at the lower left corner.
