HOFer Billy Smith is a postseason goaltending legend. The Islanders had one of the greatest runs in hockey history, in the early 80s and owe a lot of their four straight Stanley Cups to Smith, even making it to a fifth straight cup in 84. In 1983 the Isles swept the Oilers in 4 games, with Smith allowing the Oilers only 6 goals and winning the Conn Smythe Trophy as MVP in the playoffs. A year later, Smith broke the record for the most Playoff victories: he led all goaltenders in playoff victories in total and in every individual year between 1980 and 1984. Offered here is a rare pair of KOHO Billy Smith worn Goalie Pads worn by Smith during this historic stretch - we have found style matches these from the 1983 season. Manufacturer KOHO is sewn on in leather, on the outside of both pads, in black. KOHO is also printed onto the back calf guards in white. The pads are well intact and show endless signs of wear. They are signed and inscribed in black marker from top to bottom on each pad “Billy Smith 31 HOF 93 GAME USED 4X SC Champ 80-81-82-83 1983 Conn Smythe 1982 Vezina NHL TOP 100”, in our opinion rating a 9 and come with photos of him signing. These pads are properly marked, presented to us as game-used and show excellent use. BECKETT WITNESSED stickers affixed to the bottom of each pad.
