The message is dated “June 1st, 1942” and reads, “Many thanks for your nice telegram which I received in Hollywood while I was ill, and recently returning to New York, this is my first opportunity to answer the many messages. I enjoyed working in “The Pride of the Yankees” and hope you will enjoy seeing the picture. Sincerely yours, Babe Ruth.” The letter is signed by Ruth in black fountain ink and in our opinion rates a 6-7. The message has been typed on letterhead of “SAMUEL GOLDWYN INC., LTD.”, the production company that released “The Pride of the Yankees” in 1942.
