The original iron man of pro basketball, Ronald Bruce Boone was drafted by both the Phoenix Suns (NBA), and Dallas Chaparrals (ABA) in 1968. Boone chose the more colorful league in the ABA, which matched his leaping, and slashing panache style of play. This basketball comes from his final game in which at the time was the record for consecutive pro basketball games played. Although this record was eventually broken by A.C. Green, it should be noted that Boone played at least 20 minutes in each game when Green made many “token appearances” throughout his streak. Basketball is painted with a white background taking up two panels reading “PRO BASKETBALL RECORD FOR CONSECUTIVE GAMES PLAYED RON BOONE-1,041 DALLAS 90 - HOUSTON 108 (ABA) 10/31/1968 UTAH 91 – HOUSTON 106 (NBA) 1/24/1981” with the NBA logo painted on each side of inscription. Team “UTAH JAZZ” is stamped on panel below artwork. It is a “SPALDING Official Game Ball NBA” with commissioner David J. Stern’s signature stamped. The ball takes air, and is in EX condition overall. Accompanied by a Ron Boone LOA.
