It was commonly theorized that, if anyone was going to end Ted Williams' reign as the last man to bat .400, it would be Gwynn. And while he never quite cleared the bar, the Padres superstar remains the only man who's playing career began after World War II listed in the top twenty for lifetime average. Here we present a home white pinstriped gamer from late in that Hall of Fame career, worn during San Diego's National League Championship season. On the front left tail of this white pinstripe jersey is the RUSSELL ATHLETIC manufacturer’s label with wash instructions, size “50” and a material tag attached. Team name (PADRES) appears across the front and player number (19) on the back, both done in navy on white on orange tackle twill. The left sleeve is adorned with a “SAN DIEGO PADRES” patch. Player name (GWYNN) appears across the back in navy tackle twill. The jersey is signed on the back number in silver marker, in our opinion rating a 7. This jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows appropriate wear. Accompanied by a Heritage LOA as well as a signed LOA from Gwynn’s wife, stating “Tony Gwynn Autographed Game-Used Pinstriped Jersey Hit #2869 6/28/98 vs ANA”. Accompanied by an ALOA from JSA.
