One of the pioneers of professional basketball, George Mikan redefined the game with his prolific rebounding, shot blocking and his talent to shoot over smaller defenders with his ambidextrous hook shot. In his stellar playing career, he won seven NBL, BAA and NBA championships, an All-Star MVP trophy, three scoring titles and was a member of the first four NBA All-Star and the first six All-BAA and All-NBA Teams. On the inside collar of the leather jacket is the "Jeff Hamilton" manufacturers label with the size "3X" flag tag. Inside the jacket is a leather patch that reads "This is a Limited Edition of 50 Jackets designed by Jeff Hamilton commissioned by the National Basketball Association in Honor of the Fifty Greatest Players in the History of the League February 9, 1997 Jeff Hamilton." The jacket has been signed in gold marker by Jeff Hamilton on this patch. On the left breast is the gold, red, white and blue NBA "50th" Anniversary logo leather patch. On the right sleeve is the player number "99" in white on light blue leather patches. Across the back of the jacket is "LAKERS" in white on dark blue leather patches. The jacket is autographed in black marker on the front with "H.O.F. 59 The 50 Greatest" added and rates a 9. The jacket shows wear and has no alterations of any kind. Accompanied by a LOA from JSA. This jacket is an exact duplicate and was not worn at the ceremony. This lot comes with an ironclad letter of provenance from our consignor.
