Rollie Fingers conversion from starter to bullpen ace for the Oakland A's, marked the beginning of the modern-day reliever. During his 17 year career, Fingers racked up 341 saves and was the 1981 AL MVP and Cy Young. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1992. This Rolaids Relief Award was given to Fingers in May, 1984 as the month's best reliever. The 8" x 10" wood base has a 5-1/2" x 7-1/2" metal plaque that reads "Rolaids Relief Man Major League Baseball Rollie Fingers Milwaukee Brewers 1984." The award is in excellent condition.
