The San Diego Conquistadors were founded in 1972 as the ABA’s only expansion team and reached the playoffs in their first two seasons. The team was sold in the Summer of 1975 and was renamed to the San Diego Sails with an entirely new color scheme. Lee Davis played for both the Conquistadors and Sails. In the rear waistband of the warm-up pants is the Rawlings manufacturer’s tag size “33” with washing instructions. There is evidence of a pre existing flag tag that due to wear is gone. In the rear waistband of the shorts is the SanJan manufacturer’s tag size “36”. The player number “8” is handwritten on this tag in black marker. There is team piping down both sides of the shorts. These shorts are properly tagged and were presented to us as player worn. Accompanied by a LOA from Lee Davis.
