Don Chaney became the first-round pick (12th overall) of the Boston Celtics in the 1968 NBA Draft; he was also drafted by the Houston Mavericks of the American Basketball Association. Don became a 1969 NBA Finals champion with the Boston Celtics during his rookie year. He would also help the Celtics toward winning the 1974 NBA Finals. He had two stints with the Boston Celtics (1968-1975, and 1977-1980), for which he is most notable. Chaney was mostly known for his defensive skills, providing adequate numbers in minutes off the bench. Chaney won a total of 741 career games and took Temple University to the NCAA tournament 17 times. His 1987-88 Owls team entered the NCAA tournament ranked #1 in the country, and he reached the Elite Eight on five different occasions. On the left front tail of this road knit jersey is the "Medalist Sand-Knit" manufacturer's tag with the jersey size "42" on it. Above that is an additional manufacturer’s exclusive tag that reads "Designed & Tailored Exclusively for the Boston Celtics." Across the front is "CELTICS." Below that and on the back is the player number "12." Across the back is the player name "CHANEY." All lettering and numbering is done in white tackle twill. The jersey shows game-use and appears to have no alterations of any kind.
