Westrum set an International League record in 1949 by hitting five grand slams, though he played in only 51 games. In 1950, his first year as a Giants regular, he hit 23 HR, set a still-standing NL record for catchers with a .999 fielding average, and led the league in assists and double plays. In the neck of the jersey is a white felt patch with the name "Westrum" in black chain stitch. On the left front tail is the "Wilson" label and below is a white felt patch with the year "70" in black chain stitch. Across the front of the jersey is the name "Giants" and on the back is the player number "9." The name and number have been done in black felt on an orange tackle twill backing. There are orange/black/orange piping around the neck and around the ends of the sleeves. The jersey shows wear and appears to have no alterations of any kind.
