Robert F. Kennedy was a pioneer and the icon of modern American liberalism. Early in his political career, Bobby served as his brother (John F. Kennedy’s) presidential advisor. He then went on to serve as U.S. Attorney General from 1961-1964. In March of 1968, Kennedy began campaigning for the presidency in which he defeated Eugene McCarthy on June 4th in the California presidential primary. Kennedy was fatally shot by Sirhan Sirhan delivering his victory speech at The Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles. He died some 26 hours later but to this day remains an American hero. This 1.75” diameter pin reads, “Vote for our next President Robert F. Kennedy” with red, white and blue silk ribbon. The brass clasp has an image of Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell as well as “PHILADELPHIA”. The paper insert has been autographed by Robert Kennedy in black marker with the signature rating a 7-8. EX overall, accompanied by a LOA from JSA for the signature.
