Considered by many the greatest player of all time, Mays was the prototype of the complete player; he hit for average and power, ran the bases with intelligence and speed, played a spectacular centerfield and possessed a great arm. He was also remarkably durable, playing in at least 150 games for 13 consecutive seasons. In the neck of the jersey is "MacGregor" label which includes the size "42." On the inside left front tail is the flag tag reading "Set 2 1958." Across the front of the jersey is the name "Quincy" in black on orange felt. On the back of the shirt is the player number "24" in black on orange tackle twill. The jersey was sent down to the minors at which time the team name "San Francisco" was taken off the front of the shirt and the team name "Quincy" was added. The shirt comes with an additional letter of authenticity from the minor leaguer who wore the shirt. The jersey shows game-use and with the exception of the changed team name on the front, appears to have no other alterations of any kind.
