A relief specialist, Don Bessent had an 8-1 record for the World Champion 1955 Dodgers and a staff-best 2.70 ERA. He was the winning pitcher in Game Two of the 1956 World Series. In the neck of the jersey is the "Rawlings Hall of Fame Flannel" label and adjacent is the size tag, "42." On the left front tail is "D. Bessent" in blue chain stitch. On the inside left front tail is the wash tag and adjacent is the flag tag reading "Set 1 1954." Across the front of the jersey is the name "Dodgers" in script-style letters made of blue felt. The player number "44" appears on both the left breast and on the back of the shirt. The numbers on the front are made of red felt and the numbers on the back are made of blue felt. The jersey shows game-use and appears to have no alterations of any kind.
