This rare silk showcases the 1908 American League Champions, the Detroit Tigers. It measures 16.125x16.75 inches and has been turned into a pillowcase. One side features images of four roaring tigers surrounding the team, including notable players like Ty Cobb, Mullin, Donovan, and others. These images, taken by local photographer Fred Wright, are cleverly placed on a background resembling an Official American League baseball. The silk also bears the copyright notice from Fred Wright. Silks like these were originally used as incentives to buy tobacco products, with smaller versions featuring individual players. Despite a few minor stains from the yellow material used on the fringes, the silk is in remarkable condition, with no rips or tears. The 1908 Tigers, managed by Hall of Famer Hughie Jennings and led by the legendary Cobb, won the American League pennant.
