According to Terry Pluto’s collection of the oral history of the ABA, Loose Balls, Boone receieved his nickname “The Legend” because without fail he showed up to training camp year after year in perfect playing shape as if the previous season never ended. Boone was known for driving a bright orange Cadillac Eldorado during his playing days, which was representative of his style of play. Ron finished his career averaging 16.8 ppg (ABA & NBA), 4 ABA All-Star appearances, and one time ABA champion with the Utah stars in 1971. This award represents the foundation of “The Legend’s” career. The base of the award measures 8” x 8” and the front is adorned with a plaque reading “1000th Consecutive Game October 31, 1980 UTAH – 144 DALLAS – 122”. There are four cylinder pillars atop the base standing 9” tall with a golden “athlete figurine” in-between. Resting above the pillars is another wooden base, which houses a stand reading “THIS IS THE BALL!” in which holds the ball itself. The ball is stamped “Wilson Official NBA” with “EXCLUSIVELY ADOPTED National Basketball Association Lawrence F. O’Brien COMMISSIONER”. The opposite side of the ball is stamped “SELECTED GRAIN LEATHER NYLON LINED INFLATE 7 TO 9 LBS MADE IN U.S.A”. The ball takes air, and is in EX condition overall. The award is in EX condition overall as well. Accompanied by a Ron Boone LOA. This item will be expensive to ship due to size and fragility.
