1966 Heisman Trophy winner Steve Spurrier is only the fourth person to be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame as both a player and coach. Spurrier became the first Florida Gator to win the Heisman Trophy in 1966 as he established himself as one of the best passers in SEC history. Spurrier threw for 2,012 yards and 16 touchdowns during his Heisman season. Spurrier finished his college career with 4,848 passing yards and 37 touchdowns, breaking numerous school and conference records. In addition to winning the Heisman Trophy and the Walter Camp Award, he was also a unanimous All-American. Presented is an incredibly rare jersey that is being publicly offered for the first time. The jersey was gifted to a young fan on the field and comes with photo documentation of the fan holding the jersey and is dated November 1966. Also accompanying this lot is a 1966 Heisman ceremony program cover signed and inscribed by Spurrier to the young fan. On the front left tail is the Russell Southern manufacturer’s tag size “44” with washing instructions. The blue cotton jersey features durene shoulder inserts and the player number “11” is on the front, back and both sleeves painted in white. The jersey is littered with numerous repairs throughout. There is fraying to the collar however the jersey displays well. Spurrier signed the front number “1” in black marker and in our opinion rates a strong 8. This jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows outstanding use with additional wear present. Accompanied by the photo of the young fan with the jersey, the Heisman Trophy ceremony award signed program cover and an ALOA from JSA.
