Woodrow Wilson’s Presidential Documents: A Glimpse into History

An Era of Leadership

The 28th President of the United States, Woodrow Wilson, left an indelible mark on American history. His leadership during pivotal moments such as World War I and the establishment of the League of Nations is well-documented. Now, we present a unique opportunity to own a piece of this historical legacy through three presidential documents, each bearing Wilson’s signature in black ink.

Historical Significance of the Documents

These documents, each signed by President Wilson, are not only a testament to his presidency but also a reflection of the era’s political and military landscape. They are accompanied by a Letter of Authenticity (LOA) from JSA and two PSA/DNA LOAs, ensuring their historical value and authenticity.

The Documents in Detail

  • April 13th, 1916: This document appoints Jonathan H. Warman to the position of “Chief Machinist in the Navy, to rank with, but after, Ensign.” Wilson’s signature, in our opinion, rates a vintage 7, showcasing its well-preserved state.
  • August 22nd, 1916: Enclio B. Frick is appointed to the position of “Colonel in the Medical Corps.” Although the signature has lightly faded, it presents well and is rated a 6.
  • May 23rd, 1917: This document appoints Francis W. Benson as an “Ensign in the Navy.” Wilson’s signature on this document also rates a vintage 7, highlighting its excellent condition.

Each document is also signed by Wilson’s Secretary of the Navy/War and bears the appropriate Presidential seal, adding to their authenticity and historical significance.

Preserving a Legacy

The age-appropriate fading of the ink and documents only adds to their charm, offering a tangible connection to a bygone era. These documents are more than just signatures; they are a window into the past, capturing the essence of Wilson’s presidency and the historical context of early 20th-century America.
