This lot offers two uncommonly early professional model bats. The Hal Trotsky bat was used by the late great during his final 1946 campaign. It shows evidence of tremendous game-use with ball, hit, and cleat marks visible on all sides of the barrel. The player number "7" has been written on the knob in fading black marker and light coat of pine appears on the handle. Manufacturer: Hillerich & Bradsby, Model Number: Pre Model Number, Labeling Period: 1946-49, Length: 36 inches, Weight: 33.5 ounces, Wood: Ash, Finish: Standard. The Johnny Pesky bat dates to the heart of his career and was made ready for his use but never saw any game action. Manufacturer: Hillerich & Bradsby, Model Number: L16, Labeling Period: 1948-49, Length: 35 inches, Weight: 34.5 ounces, Wood: Ash, Finish: Standard. The bats come with a letter from PSA/DNA.
