Twelve-time All-Star Eddie Mathews was undoubtedly the premier third baseman of his time and hit 512 home runs in his career, contributing to his Hall of Fame induction in 1978. Inside the rear neck is the Sand-Knit manufacturer’s tag size “40” with washing instructions. Above is the “Designed & Tailored Exclusively for the Atlanta Braves” tag and beneath is a strip tag reading the name “Mathews” embroidered in blue chain stitching which has been reinforced. Across the chest reads “Braves”. The manager number “41” appears below and on the back. All numbering and lettering is done in blue on white on red triple tackle twill. On both sleeves is a team logo patch. Mathews signed the front of the jersey with the added inscription “HOF 78” and in our opinion the signature rates an 8. Some staining appears, but this is actually a common trait among these jerseys as a fire in the Braves storage facility affected quite a bit of their wardrobe this way. The numbers have been restored. This jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as manager-worn and shows wear. Accompanied by a Full LOA from PSA/DNA & JSA.
