One of the most storied teams in the history of baseball and arguably the greatest team to ever take the field, the 1927 Yankees roster featured an unprecedented roster of six Hall of Famers: Ruth, Gehrig, Lazzeri, Hoyt, Combs and Pennock. Known as "Murderer's Row," six Yankees batted over .300 that year: Gehrig (.373), Ruth, Lazzeri, Combs, Meusel and Paschal. Winning 110 games, a record setting performance at the time, they went on to beat the Pirates 4-0 in the World Series. 1927 is also the year that Babe Ruth hit 60 home runs, a record that would last for decades before Roger Maris hit 61 in 1961. Just think that in 1909, Ty Cobb had led the A.L. in home runs with a whopping total of nine! A true delight in the realm of team signed baseballs and one of the most highly sought after, this rare red and blue stitched Reach OAL baseball has been signed in black fountain pen by 28 members of the 1927 World Champion New York Yankees. Signatures include HOFer Babe Ruth on the sweet spot, HOFers Lou Gehrig, Tony Lazzeri, Earle Combs and Waite Hoyt, Pat Collins, Mark Koenig, Bob Meusel, Ray Morehart, Mike Gazella, Cedric Durst, Benny Bengough, Ben Paschal, Dutch Ruether, Wilcy Moore, Urban Shocker, George Pipgras, Bob Shawkey, Walter Beall and several others that are very light. Possibly a Spring Training ball that includes coaches and/or trainers as well as Judge Landis. Ball is deeply toned with some spotting, President's stamp is no longer visible, signatures grade from 3 to 7 with the Gehrig grading a 5 and the Ruth a 4. Accompanied by a LOA from JSA.
