During a 24-year career, Phil Niekro relied not on velocity, but on a fluttering knuckleball to frustrate major league hitters. His lifetime record of 318-274 produced a winning percentage significantly higher than those teams for which he pitched. "Knucksie" twice led the National League in wins and propelled Atlanta to the National League West title in 1969, when he recorded 23 victories, 21 complete games and a 2.57 ERA. A five-time All-Star, he no-hit the Padres on August 5, 1973. On the left front tail of the jersey is the "79" embroidered year tag. In the collar of the jersey is the "WILSON" manufacturer's tag with the jersey size "44" and wash instructions on it. Across the front of the jersey is "BRAVES" in script. Below that on the left and on the back of the jersey is the player number "35." All lettering and numbering is done in blue on white on red triple tackle twill. There is an autograph in blue marker on the front and added "H.O.F. 97," rates a 9. On the inside front waist of the pants is the "WILSON" manufacturer's size "36" tag with wash instructions. Next to that is an embroidered strip tag "25 79 2 35." There is an autograph in blue marker on the front with an added "H.O.F. 97" that rates a 9. The jersey and pants show good game-use and there appear to be no alterations of any kind. Accompanied by a LOA from James Spence Authentication.
